  1. Very lovely boat you have, years of thought, congratulations!

    I have a question about your cratch if you don’t mind. On all the boats I’ve seen, the water tanks are below the cratch area, which raises it up considerably. So where is yours?

    The reason I ask is that I’m a bit of a ‘daydreamer’ myself, and am on the path to my dream narrowboat. In later life have found that I love making leather bags and very much want to continue my passion. They are slow to get shifting in the marketplace, so my plan is to reduce costs, sell my house and live on a narrowboat.

    I would love as a first option to have my workshop area at the front, a bit like your cratch but sort of reversed in the sense that the seating would be the work bench, (but raised up to a working height), with the centre area (where the table is on yours) empty for me to work.
    In effect this would give me a 3 sided workbench area with a wonderful new view of my most favorite place in the world, the rivers of England.

    I would very grateful if you can offer me any advice. if you think its unfeasible please say and I will file this dream in the ‘lovely but unfeasible’
    area of my mind.

    By the way my initial inspiration for this came from a wonderfully dedicated woman called Eloïse Sentito, who like you made her dream a reality. She now lives in a Camper Van in the Outer Hebrides with her irish wolfhound and her loom.

      The water tanks form the seating in our catch area! It’s very clever. They are embedded under the benches, so there is a flat walk-through from the saloon.

      Your plans sound fine. The only thought is that it may be a bit cold in winter. There’s no heating out in the cratch area. So, you may want to position your stove near the saloon door (as we have done) so that the heat gets out there.

      So, definitely feasible! Best of luck,
