Amorphous Isle
Notes
Amorphous Isle is an evocation of the eponymous island described in 'Exploits and Opinions of Doctor Faustroll, pataphysician' by Alfred Jarry. He wrote: "The Island is like soft coral, amoeboid and protoplasmic: its trees closely resemble the gesture of snails making horns at us."
Performance notes
The piece consists of multiple settlements, which could be encountered at will by visitors to the online opera 'The Imaginary Voyage'. The audio and video versions above are therefore just one capture of an infinite set of possible combinations. The digital sounds are combined using an elaborate system based on my responses to their characteristics.
