Timestretch

2001 · Orchestra and digital sound · (8')

Notes

Timestretch is scored for large orchestra and digital sounds. It was commissioned for an outdoor performance to celebrate the Leicester Space Centre. The premiere was given by the Philharmonia Orchestra, conducted by Andrew Constantine. The piece features strange whistling sounds recorded by the Cassini space probe as it neared Saturn. These are then stretched out and combined with the orchestra.
