Land of Lace is a setting of the text from 'Exploits and Opinions of Doctor Faustroll, pataphysician' by Alfred Jarry, in which the eponymous doctor and his crew visit an island devoted to Aubrey Beardsley. The text is a collage of descriptions of imagery from Beardsley's drawings.
Performance notes
The piece exists in two versions: as a concert work and as a movie with animations by Jo Lawrence (watch above). The ten lines of text may be sung in French or English, and could be performed in any order.
